In 2026, Spaces of Fontana celebrates 10 years of creating dance rooted in hope. From site-specific performances in New York City to historic porches in Austin, our company has:

Performed 45 times to nearly 4000 audience members

Created 10 new works and 3 evening-length performances

Choreographed collaboratively with 38 artists; including 29 dancers, 6 musicians, 3 visual artists, and 2 poets

Taught 65 workshops and summer intensives
At the heart of our mission is empowering artists to discover their voices and connect on a personal level. Collaboration is our cornerstone — not only within the rehearsal process, but also through partnerships with visual artists, musicians, poets, and designers.

They are not only incredibly talented dancers, improvisers and performers - they are genuine and caring humans. Each rehearsal is filled with laughter, deep conversation, constant discovery on creating new partner-work AND a team effort on caring for the little humans in the space.
The dancers are integrated in the world of family by holding babies and supporting the parents in the rehearsal environment. I know that I could not do this without them. They hold space for me and take turns playing with my daughter as I play with choreography or contact.
I leave every rehearsal inspired.

As artists, we explore improvisation, contemporary partnering and somatics to bring life to our understanding of a human experience. We commit to cultivating an uplifting, collaborative and supportive rehearsal environment. We listen interiorly. We listen to the world. We listen to the Divine. We listen to each other. We see glimpses of light in every story and allow these stories to come to life through movement. Since the work we create is based on human connection, all throughout the creation process we strive to foster a space that allows the artists to be human.
From the seemingly mundane activities, like folding laundry, to real challenges, like hurricanes or infertility, Spaces of Fontana concentrates on finding faith, hope and positivity in EVERY story. We find beauty in awkwardness; strength in athleticism; connection in partner-work and passion in eye contact.

When Artistic Director, Evelyn, relaunched Spaces of Fontana in Austin, she did so as both an artist and a mother. Now, as a mom of three, she brings that perspective into every rehearsal: creating space where artists are seen as people first, with room for both their artistry and their humanity. (Miniature guest artists are often spotted in the studio too!)
​Our dancers are professionals who bring heart and artistry to every rehearsal and performance — yet their pay remains modest.
Over 50% of our current budget already goes directly to dancer pay. With your help, we can go further, increasing base pay and moving closer to our goal of $20/hour + $200/show.

LOOKING AHEAD - to continue fostering each artist's voice, our goal is to also offer paid choreographic opportunities for company members to have a platform to showcase their own work.
