As artists, we explore improvisation, contemporary partnering and somatics to bring life to our understanding of a human experience. We commit to cultivating an uplifting, collaborative and supportive rehearsal environment. We listen interiorly. We listen to the world. We listen to the Divine. We listen to each other. We see glimpses of light in every story and allow these stories to come to life through movement. Since the work we create is based on human connection, all throughout the creation process we strive to foster a space that allows the artists to be human.
 

From the seemingly mundane activities, like folding laundry, to real challenges, like hurricanes or infertility, Spaces of Fontana concentrates on finding faith, hope and positivity in EVERY story. We find beauty in awkwardness; strength in athleticism; connection in partner-work and passion in eye contact.

When Artistic Director, Evelyn, relaunched Spaces of Fontana in Austin, she did so as both an artist and a mother. Now, as a mom of three, she brings that perspective into every rehearsal: creating space where artists are seen as people first, with room for both their artistry and their humanity. (Miniature guest artists are often spotted in the studio too!)

But here’s the truth: behind every performance are dancers who deserve more than a modest base stipend. Over 50% of our current budget already goes directly to dancer pay. With your help, we can go further — raising base pay and moving closer to our goal of $20/hour + $200/show.

LOOKING AHEAD - to continue fostering each artist's voice, our goal is to also offer paid choreographic opportunities for company members to have a platform to showcase their own work.
