Meet Kanami

Kanami Nakabayashi-Timpe is a freelance dance artist and dance teacher in Austin, TX. Kanami, originally from Tokyo, Japan, started dance at the age of three and her passion for dance led her to train abroad at a ballet school in Canada and at UT Austin. Upon graduation, she freelanced and danced in many performance projects in Japan.

Currently, she is back in Austin and has performed with Performa/Dance,  Red Nightfall Dance Theatre, TY&CO, Ventana Ballet, Sea Legs Dance, Early Era Collective and amazing choreographers in town. She has also served as an adjunct ballet faculty at UT Austin.

When not dancing, she can be found cooking some food and making a mess in the kitchen or relaxing playing puzzles sometimes with her husband Connor. "

Why do you love dancing with Spaces of Fontana?

"This is my first time working with Spaces of Fontana. I loved how welcoming and open everyone was for me to join and that every connection and every movement together feel authentic, comforting and organic.

I love the environment where everyone is real and humane, there to work but also have fun while doing so."
